This is one of the world's great national parks and the largest in New South Wales. Covering almost 675,000 hectares, the park contains the highest mountains in Australia, the famous Snowy River and all NSW ski fields. Its many and varied attractions include walks through alpine herbfields, spectacular caves and limestone gorges, scenic drives and historic huts and homesteads

Yarrangobilly Caves

The Yarrangobilly Caves are 6.5km off the Snowy Mountains Highway about an hour's drive from Adaminaby.
The caves are some of the most beautiful in Australia.
The caves are open every day except Christmas Day. You can:

• explore the magnificent caves on a guided or self-guided tour
• take a relaxing bushwalk along a shady trail
• enjoy a soothing swim in the thermal pool, which is a constant 27C.
• seek out native plants and animals.

Yarrangobilly is the ideal place for bird watching, photography or just enjoying the summer wildflowers. Use the picnic and barbecue facilities that are available.

Blue Water Holes

Blue Water Holes is great for fishing and bushwalking. The gorges that form as this tiny stream develops are fascinating - a place that should not be missed. Because of the location, The Blue Water Holes is usually closed during winter snowfalls.

Kosciuszko Walk - Thredbo to Kosciuszko Lookout

2 km, 45 minutes, medium difficulty
The walk begins at the top of the chairlift at Thredbo. It runs beside the rocky outcrops of Rams Head Range and passes through herbfields and heath to Kosciuszko lookout.

Alpine area: Kosciuszko Walk - Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko

6.5 km, 2.5 hours, medium difficulty.
The walk begins at the top of the chairlift at Thredbo. It runs beside the rocky outcrops of Rams Head Range and passes through herbfields and heath to Kosciuszko Lookout. It then crosses the headwaters of the Snowy River, climbs to a saddle above Lake Cootapatamba and continues past Etheridge Range to Rawson's Pass. From here it is a gradual climb up the old road to Mount Kosciuszko's summit. Return to Thredbo along the same route.
